About Addison, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Like so many towns in the area, preservation of history is a priority of the Village of Addison and for the Addison Historical Commission. As a smaller suburb of Chicago and a lovely family community, it lacks the grit of some modern cities but has far more heart and history because of the town’s commitment to maintaining its historic integrity. The Addison Historical District was created in the late 90s for the purpose of defending and preserving historical structures. The locals like the family atmosphere, the seasonal weather and the great opportunities for work in Chicago just a drive away.

The town’s Historical Museum is one of many ways which the locals work to preserve their history and culture. Also known as the Balzer House, the structure was first situated on East Lake Street, and owned one of the first families of Addison (the Balzers). The home and its complementary Coach House were moved in 1999 to become a permanent home for the Addison Historical Museum. The museum is open in June, July, and August when school is out, so bring your kids to check it out on an extra hot day when you want to be inside in the air conditioning.

Another local gem is the Century House. It was built in 1893 as a teachers' home for the Lutheran School. Purchased by the Village of Addison in 1993, it has been renovated, restored and furnished to recreate the late 1800s lifestyle. This little house represents the preservation of Addison’s long and proud history. The nearby town of Bloomington has a preserved downtown area which includes the Bloomingdale Park District Museum (which is the oldest building in town.) It is home to five to seven exhibits and still boasts original 1849 ceiling, floor, and even some of the original windows. Renovation in the late 90s included an art gallery addition.  This would be an unbelievable way to spend an icy winter break’s day with the kids out of school!
